    This is an exploration of oil pastel technique and the design principle EMPHASIS.
    You will design a composition including FIVE important things about you, but the focus will be on the MOST important thing.
    Process:
    1. Practice with oil pastels (here are 3 videos on technique to get you started)
    you will use colored paper swatches and then attach in your sketchbook
    2. Brainstorm
    thumbnail sketches in sketchbook (4 or more)
    3. Work up a best choice composition and
    Must include your name and FIVE things about you (clues must be obvious to any viewer)
    Does your work have a focal point (EMPHASIS)??
    Did you place your emphasis within the RULE OF THIRDS lines??
    4. sketch lightly with first VERY LIGHT layer of oil pastel
    5. Progressively add layers until each section including background has at least 3 layers of color
