What about the class?
This is a basic class in understanding the arts. We learn mostly through hands-on projects and sharing ideas. The elements and principles of design are foundational to understanding art – like the A,B,C’s are to reading. Expect a lot of journaling/sketching, sharing ideas, working together, completing individual and group projects, and finally, critiquing final work as a group and/or individuals.
Notebook/Journal/Sketchbook:(click to go to sketchbook page)
This is mandatory each class and is required by the end of week 2. Each assignment is worth 4 points graded on:
Completeness- must cover the full page
Understanding of the technique or concept studied- must follow given guidelines
Missing utensils (pen/pencil) results in loss of 1 point
Missing journals or incomplete assignments can be made up with a loss of one point
Bonus of 1 point can be gained (no more than 1 per assignment) by submitting an extra page of the assignment given
Projects: These are worth the most points (40%) and I am available after school or during learning labs for completion of projects. I do not wait until everyone is finished to begin the next project.
